Mabuhay kapamilya! Welcome to Filipinx Association for Health Careers (FAHC)!

We are one of eight Filipinx organizations at UC Davis. FAHC was established in 1981 as a committee of Mga Kapatid and was later recognized as its own organization in 1985 by the Center of Student Involvement. From the beginning, FAHC has always strived to provide academic, cultural, and social support for students pursuing a career in health or just even wanting to explore Filipinx culture. Here, we integrate Filipinx customs and academic guidance together for members to realize the health field is not just knowing the facts, but knowing people. For over 40 years, FAHC has been more than just another pre-health organization. Being rooted in culture, community, and academic excellence, our members find an experience unlike any other.

Though the COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately put a pause on some of our traditions, we are hoping to bring them back! We hope to bring back service events such as Veterano Luncheon where we honor Filipinx veterans as many had their compensations stripped away due to the Rescission Acts of 1946. Professional development events such as CPR Saturdays will hopefully make a comeback as well. This year’s Big Sib Little Sib Program is projected to be full of exciting and fun social events such as movie nights, sporting competitions, and mentorship of course!

These events are nothing without the members of FAHC. In the FAHC pack, you are sure to find bright and compassionate friends. Here you’ll have a support system consistently throughout your collegiate career. Our members and leaders are eager to help you discover your identity and strengthen you for a career in the health field.

FAHC Board 2022-2023 is so excited to serve you this year and extend the warmest of welcomes to you all. Be ready to discover more about Filipinx culture. Challenge yourself to explore and hone in on your passions and interests. Come excited to find your kapamilya/family with FAHC. We are all so overjoyed that we get to spend another school year sharing smiles, memories, and inspiration to this community. FAHC is ready to elevate and celebrate you so welcome to our community!

All my best,

Chloe Resngit

President 2022-2023

Land Acknowledgement

We take a moment to acknowledge the people of the lands we are collectively occupying at UC Davis. For thousands of years, the land upon which UC Davis occupies has been the home of Patwin [PUTT-win] people, including the Yocha Dehe Wintun [YO-chuh DEE-HEE WIN-tun] Nation, the Cachil Dehe [CATCH-ill] Band of Wintun, and the Kletsel [KLET-SELL DEE-HEE] Dehe Band of Wintun today. The Patwin people remain committed to the stewardship of this land. It continues to be cherished and protected, as elders have instructed the young through generations.

We acknowledge the painful history of genocide in the United States for native and indigenous peoples. We honor and respect the many and diverse tribal nations and peoples who were forcefully displaced from, as well as those still connected to, this land.

We hold with love our responsibility to honor the land, the original tribal occupants, and the history of the places we reside. Further, we have a responsibility to continually self educate, reflect, and listen to the histories and people in the spaces we occupy.
