A Message from Our President
Mabuhay! Hello and Welcome to the Filipinx Association for Health Careers, or simply FAHC!
FAHC was established as a committee of Mga Kapatid in 1981 by a group of students dedicated to providing academic, personal and social support for students pursuing a career in the field of health care. Expanding quickly to the needs of the community, FAHC was recognized as its own independent organization by the Center for Student Involvement in 1985. Today, it proudly serves as one of the eight Fil-Am (Filipinx American) organizations at UC Davis and continues to cultivate the same feelings of friendship and camaraderie from the past.
FAHC may seem like your average pre-health student organization; however, I can promise you that FAHC holds a sentiment that is outwardly humble yet deeply significant. For more than 30 years, FAHC has provided its members a place to learn more about Filipinx culture and health related issues while offering a community that is supportive and inspiring. With internship and leadership opportunities, professional advisors, a mentorship program, professional career panels, community service programs, and a biennial health conference, inspiration and opportunity isn't so hard to find with FAHC. The path towards any health profession is daunting, but FAHC will always be there to reassure you that you’re not alone in it. Whether you’re a student who is certain or even doubtful of their career path, we’re confident that you will find all the academic and social support you need to sail through the storm and come out successful in your time at UC Davis.
Aside from the incredible events that this organization has to offer, the heart of FAHC lies within its members. With members who are as bright as they are compassionate, you’ll find a family within FAHC that challenges one another to be the kindest leaders, the hardest working students, and the most supportive friends.
On behalf of FAHC Board 2019-2020 and the years of excellence witnessed before us, I extend the warmest of welcomes to you. I invite you to learn more about your culture, discover your passions, and find a home away from home with FAHC. We have a year full of happy memories and moments of inspiration ahead of us, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Welcome to the family!
All the best,
Don Elijah Atienza
FAHC President 2019-2020
