FAHCademics

Hi everyone! My name is Al Esguerra and I’m currently a third year student majoring in Human Biology at UC Davis. I’m so excited to be this year’s Academic Chair and can’t wait to meet all of you.

 

I was inspired to be a part of FAHC as it aligned with both my personal/cultural identity and my aspirations of becoming a healthcare professional. This organization has helped me learn and grow throughout my time here at Davis, and I’m grateful to be in a position where I can bring this same sentiment to members of our community. Since college may be one of the most difficult and defining periods of our lives, I want to help our community grow personally, academically, and professionally, providing everything I can to aid in the success of our members regardless of their backgrounds, major, future career plans, and obstacles they may encounter.

 

As FAHC’s Academic Chair, my main goals are to provide resources and organize workshops alongside my board as well as other FilAm organizations that pertain to academics, professional growth, and mental health. I hope to organize social events, allowing our members to interact with one another, create study groups for their classes, and build strong connections. I will also be having open hours through Zoom where you can join to discuss school and on-campus resources, or if you need someone to study or chat with. Please feel free to stop by or reach out as I’m looking forward to meeting and talking to every single one of you. Finally, I run the Instagram page, @fahcademics, where you can find resources for research or job opportunities and important UC Davis deadlines and dates. I also plan to make posts about popular classes among pre-health students, school-life balance, and study advice.

 

Outside of school, I really enjoy playing sports, video games, guitar, and spending time with my loved ones. I also enjoy cooking and love to search up and try new recipes whenever I can.
