About Us
FAHC (Filipinx Association for Health Careers) is an organization at UC Davis with a goal to provide personal, social and academic support to students interested in pursuing a health-related career. We promote Filipinx related health issues and spread cultural awareness to the community. With a blend of customs and academic guidance, we as members realize the health field is not just knowing the facts, but knowing the people that build it. FAHC strives to provide an atmosphere in which members can experience personal growth, utilize resources to achieve their goals, and to promote feelings of friendship and camaraderie.

from our

Dear FAHCmilya,
Welcome to the Filipinx Association for Health Careers (FAHC) at UC Davis, we’re so excited to have you welcome you to our community!
FAHC was founded in 1981 as a committee under Mga Kapatid, one of the eight Filipino-American student organizations on campus. In 1985, we became an independent organization, gaining greater access to funding, event opportunities, and the ability to shape our mission around the needs of pre-health students in the Filipinx and broader BIPOC community.
Since then, FAHC has grown into a strong, supportive family, or as we like to call it, FAHCmilya. We aim to provide holistic support for students pursuing careers in healthcare and public service. From academic workshops and study groups to professional development events and cultural projects, FAHC is here to help you grow personally and professionally.
At our core, FAHC is about more than just pre-health preparation. We celebrate identity, uplift voices in medicine that have historically been underrepresented, and create a space where cultural pride and career ambition go hand-in-hand. Whether you're here to find mentorship, make new friends, or simply explore your path, know that you are welcome here.
We also proudly collaborate with UC Davis’s other Fil-Am organizations, BRIDGE, FILAH, Mga Kapatid, Kappa Psi Epsilon, PASE, and PIBL, to build spaces that are safe, inclusive, and empowering for all who wish to be part of this vibrant community.
Especially in times like these, when uncertainty is high and our communities are facing growing challenges, unity and collective resilience are more important than ever. Families are being separated, our access to education is under threat, and crucial funding for programs that empower communities like ours is being stripped away. These injustices affect us all, but they also remind us why spaces like FAHC matter.
This upcoming year will be a testament to our strength, our solidarity, and our unwavering determination to stand together. As students, future healthcare leaders, and members of the Fil-Am community, we will continue to show up, for ourselves, for each other, and for the generations that come after us.
In that spirit, I can’t wait to grow, learn, and thrive together with FAHC. Be on the lookout for exciting workshops, events, and our biennial health conference, all organized by our amazing board.
Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your FAHC President for 2025–2026. I can’t wait to give back to UCD FAHC 2025-2026 and the Fil-Am community for all the great memories. I'm so excited to create even more meaningful memories this upcoming year!
Salamat!
Best,
Alessandra Hernando
FAHC President 2025-2026
