Dr. Lia Africa

Dr. Lia Africa was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the US shortly before her 21st birthday. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Nevada State College in 2007, and later on completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Nevada -Las Vegas in 2010.

Throughout her college years, Dr. Africa worked several paid jobs simultaneously. She was a nanny, a researcher in a microbiology lab, a scribe (back when very few knew what that was), and a paid note-taker! She shadowed a doctor who was extremely involved in the community, which opened doors for her to be able to have a role in her advocacies as well.

She attended the University of Nevada School of Medicine and graduated in 2014. She moved to Sacramento for my residency in Internal Medicine, which she completed in 2017.

She truly loves inpatient clinical care, thus decided to pursue being a hospitalist after residency. Dr. Africa has stayed with UC Davis Health since then, fulfilling what was once just a dream!

She returned to her home state in Nevada for medical school at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Dr. Bartolome went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center, where she continues to work as a Hospitalist.
